Ceramic water pitcher with straight sides and no handle. The hand painted blue peony design is a Vietnamese classic and perennial best seller. Handmade using non toxic paints and glazes.
The blue and white ceramics of Vietnam have been sought after throughout the world since the 15th century. Today, potters blend artistic skill with time honoured techniques in the famous pottery village of Bat Trang, just east of Hanoi, where there are as many kilns as houses. Bat Trang area provided natural porcelain clay and its location on the Hong (Red) River made it an easily accessible location. Ceramics skills are passed down through the generations. Paint and glaze is applied by hand. When dry, the pottery is fired at very high temperatures, giving it strength and durability.
